They said, “You need to write a book.” And so I did. But first came the blog. Welcome. My name is Stacy. I’m glad you’re here.

Besides writing, Ive volunteered for  the ABC Extreme Makeover: Home Edition TV show, the Karla Smith Foundation and the Balanced Mind Parent Network.

And I’m also passionate about mental health advocacy, especially regarding suicide prevention and the elimination of stigma.

But what Im most passionate about is taking care of my loved ones which gets me to the heart of Stacys Flutterings. One of my daughters lives with bipolar disorder. She’s also a suicide survivor. I’m also a survivor. I’m a survivor as a parent of a child who lives with mental illness. I survived the moment I discovered her after her last near fatal suicide attempt, and I’m surviving parenthood now. And I have good news. There’s so much hope, no matter what were facing. Mental illness doesn’t define my daughter, myself or my family. It just happens to be a part of our story, a story Im proud of.

Theres hope! Watch and see!

Thank you Shira! I am proud and honored to include The Balanced Mind Foundation in my “favorite links.” What an incredible foundation! The support, resources and information provided to parents and loved ones is pretty phenomenal! It is the least I can do. 🙂

      Thanks again so much Shira!
