About Stacy

Stacy A. King is the author of The Luggage Drop — her debut novel. The Luggage Drop took seven years to write. She is also the author of the non-fiction book Simply 1 Mom’s Thoughts About Coping When an Adult Child Lives With Mental Illness. She also created the blog Stacy’s Flutterings in 2011, a blog that’s now her author page. She works as a research analyst by day and is a writer by night. She’s currently writing her second novel.

Besides writing, Stacy volunteered for the ABC Extreme Makeover: Home Edition TV show, the Karla Smith Foundation and the Balanced Mind Parent Network.

Stacy is also passionate about mental health advocacy, especially regarding suicide prevention and the elimination of stigma.

But what she’s most passionate about is taking care of her loved ones which gets to the heart of Stacy’s Flutterings. One of her daughters lives with bipolar disorder. Her daughter is also a suicide survivor. And Stacy says, “I’m also a survivor. I’m a survivor as a parent of a child who lives with mental illness. I survived the moment I discovered her after her last near fatal suicide attempt, and I’m surviving parenthood now. And I have good news. There’s so much hope, no matter what we’re facing. Mental illness doesn’t define my daughter, myself or my family. It just happens to be a part of our story, a story I’m proud of.”

Thank you Shira! I am proud and honored to include The Balanced Mind Foundation in my “favorite links.” What an incredible foundation! The support, resources and information provided to parents and loved ones is pretty phenomenal! It is the least I can do. 🙂

      Thanks again so much Shira!
